A Little Bit of Syracuse
Drawing Architecture Studio, Syracuse Architecture

Developed by Li Han and Hu Yan of Drawing Architecture Studio and ten students in the Syracuse University School of Architecture, "A Little Bit of Syracuse" is an artistic tableau of the city of Syracuse consisting of eighty hand-made models and an eighty-foot scroll drawing. The project shines a spotlight on the often-overlooked ordinary buildings that form the backdrop of everyday life in Syracuse, celebrating those true landmarks in a visual story that is at once realistic and abstract, familiar and unfamiliar. Starting from specific buildings, the project combines the objectivity of the real world with personal sensibilities through architectural models, and then uses visual storytelling to gather these individual buildings into an urban-scale spatial imagination. It is both a study of the city of Syracuse and a collective artistic creation. "A Little Bit of Syracuse" is exhibited at the I.M. Pei-designed Everson Museum of Art from September 16 to December 31, 2023.
