For centuries, Istanbul's Bostan, or market gardens, provided fresh vegetables and played a vital role in the city's identity. They were not just cultivation sites but also gathering places, integral to urban life. The Bosta(o)topia project seeks to adapt these gardens to modern urban needs by transforming the spaces along the Yedikule city walls into areas for cultivation and community activities. This project reimagines Bostans as vertical farms, fostering social interaction and reintegrating food production into the city. It envisions a new social and cultural infrastructure, blending gardens, recreational spaces, and vertical agriculture to enrich urban life. The project was developed within the context of the Vienna Applied Arts University, Institute of Architecture.
