Citadel #18
Gaelen Pinnock
Call for Drawings | Honourable Mention September
A floating enclave of heavy machinery. This is one of many islands in a fortified archipelago of citadels that serve the military–industrial complex. This collage is made of numerous photos I took of industrial plants in South Africa that are protected by the National Key Points Act of 1980. This act was created to hide and protect installations of strategic importance to the apartheid government but was never revoked after liberation. We may not take photos of, have access to or gaze too long at a “Key Point,” yet the list of such locations is not publicly available.
