Collage for the Edith Farnsworth House
Assaf Evron

Collage for the Edith Farnsworth House is the fifth installment in a series of interventions within Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's architectural works by artist Assaf Evron. These interventions are based on Mies's own paper collages from his American period. For this iteration, Evron installs a deconstructed Georges Braque painting on the southern glass façade of the building. Since the 1930s, Mies has utilized photographs of landscapes, building materials, and artwork reproductions to define modern living in his collages. Evron expands upon Mies's collage strategy, merging representation with actual architecture. The artwork intertwines with the historical and natural context of the house, merging imagery, transparency, and reflections into a camouflage pattern.
