Land schafft Stadt (Land Creates City)
Felix Redmann
In the Anthropocene, as we humans claim more and more space, the finite resource of land as a reservoir for our metropolitan existence is becoming increasingly important. Whereas agriculture and the extraction of resources lead to irreversible changes in the form of our landscapes, neoliberal urbanism culminates a never-ending land utilization in urban areas.
The diploma »Land schafft Stadt« inverts the traditional urban-rural dichotomy and places agricultural landscapes in the middle of dense areas in Vienna. The antithesis as a provocation understands this landscape as adventure and experience and reinterprets the urban-rural identity: the city as the periphery of nature.
