How can you knit together a new community?
Three hours outside Moscow, a new residential village had been constructed with little consideration for the urban realm which would dramatically affect how people would use, enjoy and move about the locality.
The ASW Studio’s proposals created a series of public routes for walking, jogging and cycling, using hard landscaping to signify the different arteries. These routes linked a series of spaces for playing, taking part in sports or just sitting. The choice of surface therefore encouraged people to move through a space or pause. The proposals enabled the residences to be knitted into a community complete with shops, cafes and public transport.
The project was developed by the ASWStudio lead by Maria Tyulkanova and won the 1st prize on the "Moscow Public Realm" competition.
