The illustration represents the Pompidou Center as a living entity that takes place in the middle of its existing environment.
The image draws Pompidou through the metaphor of a robot composed of the striking architectural elements of this building. The staircase follows the shape of the legs. The blue / red / green / yellow colored pipes supply and operate the living organism. The ventilation vents are drawing a face and the metal structure represents the skeleton, the backbone of this robot. As Renzo Piano said: “With Beaubourg, the idea was to make a space liner that lands in the middle of Paris”. Here this liner is a living body with cyberpunk looks that conserves the poetry of the place that hosts it. This is how the site remains identical to the existing one and how this space creature, this robot, feeds, cultivates and regenerates from what surrounds it.
The project received the Honourable Mention within the context of the Re-Draw.04: Centre Pompidou Competition.
