The Landscape Post-Mortem. An Ode to Excess
Taha Barazy
The project studies contemporary territorial practices' influence on social, economic, and political landscapes. By analysing an active coal mine, it uncovers its inherent conditions. This stratigraphy investigates the role of drawing in making clear these conditions. A central paradigm for visualising the impact of landscape alterations is the exaggeration in drawing. It aims to showcase the landscape as an accessory to the mine. Coal is then visualised as a shaping force in the landscape. It introduces a constellation of variables that contribute to the ephemerality of the territory. This multidisciplinary approach prioritises interconnectedness, redefining the landscape as a series of expressions frozen in permanent vulnerability.
