Regarding the monoculture and deforestation issues in the cocoa plantation, the drawing aims to mix the commercial cute symbols of rabbits with a rebellious attitude.
The wonderland departs from a mythical story and lands in a synthetic world. The author imagines that rabbits reach the same intelligence as humans. However, their animal instincts long for nature but away from predators. Turning the Easter bunnies’ story into a selling point, the rabbits collaborate with cocoa farmers, and the cocoa woodlands become the site of the underground chocolate factories. Simultaneously, localising chocolate production breaks the existing chocolate chain of cocoa exportation, brings in biodiversity in the monoculture woodland, raises local economics, and forms a new sustainable cycle of growth and decay.
