The Yard places infrastructure as a means to elevate non human actors and have the ability to rehabilitate. It aims to interrogate the role of infrastructure to destroy and simultaneously produce product. The paper recycling facility is focused around an internal courtyard which borrows scenery from the Kurnell wetlands. It becomes a performative stage of the interactions between this reconstructed landscape and the infrastructure which invades it. The Yard is a hybrid landscape which celebrates the interactions between the natural, non human and production circuit. It offers a fictionalisation of Kurnell, capturing the subdued mood of this dislocated suburb, located in Sydney’s periphery.
