From June 25 to 28, the Arquiteturas Film Festival returns to Porto for its 12th edition, this year dedicated to the theme “At the Border”. Over four days, the festival will present 18 films from 14 countries, across three distinct programming sections. In addition to film screenings, the programme includes debates, urban walks, workshops, and exhibitions - creating a multidisciplinary dialogue between cinema, architecture, and spatial practices.
In a time marked by shifting social, spatial, and cultural landscapes, the festival poses a timely question: What insights can architecture, urban thinking, and spatial practices offer to help us understand the evolving concept of the border? Under the theme At the Border, this edition explores how both physical and symbolic boundaries shape built environments and territories - impacting daily life, identities, and collective dynamics.
Organised by INSTITUTO, the Arquiteturas Film Festival is a platform for reflecting on and disseminating architecture through film, debate, and experiential formats. The programme is structured into three sections: Official Selection, Guest Institution, and Portugal Special.
Events will take place across multiple venues in Porto, including Batalha Centro de Cinema, Casa Comum, Canal 180, Circo de Ideias, and INSTITUTO.

The INSTITUTO is a meeting point for various forms of cultural expression, located in the heart of Porto, and founded in 2018 by the architect Paulo Moreira. Starting from the field of architecture, the programming addresses visual and spatial arts, critical thinking, and disciplinary intersections. We believe that interdisciplinarity and the desire to tackle 'hot' topics of today's society enhance the creation and research of new contemporary discourses.
Arc en rêve is an architecture center founded in Bordeaux in 1981. Based in the Entrepôt, it presents exhibitions, workshops, lectures, and publications on architecture, cities, and the built and natural environment. For over 40 years, it has broadened the understanding of architecture, creating a space for dialogue and critical reflection on how we inhabit and transform the world.
